Data protection impact assessments for Caldicott Guardians (evening class)
A free, online evening class for Caldicott Guardians and those performing the Caldicott function for their organisation.
This class is for beginners and looks at the whys and wherefores of data protection impact assessments. It aims to spread good practice and share ideas for practical implementation.
Children and young people: information sharing and confidentiality
This event has been arranged by the UK Caldicott Guardian Council (UKCGC) to inform and support Caldicott Guardians in their work.
Target audience
This workshop is intended for Caldicott Guardians who work in organisations that have responsibilities for supporting children and families.
It is open to any Caldicott Guardian who may have to deal with information sharing related to children and young people, including children's social care.
It should be of particular interest to those who are new to this area of work.
Some awareness of complex situations, such as navigating family dynamics and safeguarding issues, would be helpful, but is not necessary.
Workshop content
Delegates will be invited to share experiences and ideas, drawing on their own experience.
Through case study examples, you will explore the legal frameworks, and ethical and professional responsibilities, related to the confidentiality of children's health and social care information.
Subject to numbers attending, case studies will be handled in smaller groups, with delegate volunteers being asked to chair and feed back on group discussions.
Accessing the event
The event involves presentations and discussions and will be delivered using Microsoft Teams. A link to access the event will be sent out to delegates in their confirmation emails, and 2 days before the event.

Caldicott Guardian Virtual workshops
These free virtual events are arranged by the UK Caldicott Guardian Council to inform and support Caldicott Guardians in their work. Delegates are invited to carry out an in-depth examination of some of the complex scenarios faced by Caldicott Guardians on the frontline of health and social care today. Through case study examples - taken from the Caldicott Guardian forum, and also from delegates on the day - you will explore some of the difficult issues and requests that those performing the Caldicott Guardian function are often asked to resolve. Any upcoming workshops will be advertised on this page and via the Caldicott Guardian newsletter.
UKCGC Breakfast Club
This is a monthly breakfast club for Caldicott Guardians held on the fourth Tuesday of every month from 08:00 to 09:00. It is held virtually via MS Teams and can include relevant news updates, opportunity to network with other Caldicott Guardians, case studies and the chance to ask questions you may be facing as a Caldicott Guardian. Those wishing to attend should contact the breakfast club chair, Helen Dyer.
